I really dig the switch at 1:10, not so much the one at 1:30 though. I would say this is more of a techno song than a ska one though, its the the upbeat offbeats and feel of it though. I also think this song would be vastly improved by some pingpong left right effects on some of the lead melodies.

I really like the synthed horns at :50 as well, probably my favorite part =D

The best thing about punk ska and reggae, is that you can blend them all together sooooo easily.

not bad for a POM song, i could lay down some sick vocals to this if i had a means to record and mix them.

This is definitely more of a punk song than a ska song though, it's still got a pretty heavy influence from it, It's just really lacking the horns that are so signature in ska. If you want to make it more ska-like without adding the horns you could try to throw in a timing change/break down kind of thing.

hope that helps!

Your singer has a pretty awesome voice, i kind of wish he would use a bigger variety of words though. This kind of reminds me of Public Property, minus the uke haha.

i have to agree with previous posters also, its not quite fast enough. Its perfect festi music to sway and bob your head to, but I'd have a hard time moshing to this, unless you speed it up live haha.

i still like it, i just wanted to throw in my two cents. I'm gonna have to check out your other stuff on here.

i dig this one too, but something about it feels a little empty. the instrumental breaks and repeated choruses probably translate better when you're in the circle pit, but recorded like this it seems drawn out.

Actually, listening now, I agree. The reason is because it's one of the first songs I ever wrote when I didn't realise that you should probably have different chord progressions throughout the songs. The way it is, the bass and guitar could pretty much play the same thing the whole way through. But it works well live, so oh well.

This song convinced me to sign up to NG again to start posting stuff and rejoin the community.

the only thing i can even nitpick about this song is the funny sounding kick at :55.

its good to hear some awesome ska here!

Clastodon responds:

Man, our drummer is the guy who recorded the whole thing and mixed and mastered without any sort of training save what he's learnt from messing around with recordings since he was a kid, so if you've got any comments that can help him get better at what he does, fire away by all means. Also any drumming tips, he wasn't exactly a drummer when he started with us so he's still learning.

Thanks for the review! It's nice to know we convinced someone to rejoin the NG community.

I'm just a dirty punk raised in a college town. I've been playing drums for 10 years guitar for 8 years, and I've been writing (mostly shitty) songs so long i don't really know how long i have been. I play in a few different bands, n do 5-6 shows a month.
